The Graveside Service for Mr. Felton Jerome Johnson will be held on Friday, August 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Staley Memorial Gardens with Rev. Susie Tatum officiating.

On the beautiful day of July 4, 1961, I was blessed to be born to the now late, Thelma James Johnson and the late, Luther Johnson. They named me Felton Jerome Johnson.

At an early age, I accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and joined the body of believers at the St. John AME Church, Plains, GA. I received my education in the public school system of Sumter County, GA, and graduated from Americus High School in 1980. I was an avid basketball player, and you could find me on the court, whether it be on McCoy Hill or the City Recreational League court. I was wherever the basketball was! I went on to further my education attending Fort Valley State University on a basketball scholarship in the position of point guard. I enjoyed life, and I enjoyed having the love of my children, family and friends.

On August 7, 2020, the Father spoke to me and said, “You have fought a good fight, you have finished the course, you have kept the faith.” Your mother, Thelma James Johnson and Father, Luther Johnson, await you. Your brother, James Johnson Jr, and your sister, Georgia Johnson, are also waiting for you. “…Enter into the joy of the Lord.”

Mr. Henry David Woods affectionately known as “Sonny” was born in Americus on February 10, 1948 to the parentage of the late Mr. O. C. Woods and Mrs. Ruby Lee Gary Woods. He retired from Reeves Construction Company after 38 years of dedicated service. He is married to Mrs. Anna Marie Hayes Woods. Sonny passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Monday, August 3, 2020.

Left to mourn his passing is his companion of over 40 years, Mrs. Anna Marie Woods; one daughter, Mrs. Chaunda (Torris) Calloway; his siblings: Ms. Annie Ruth Tookes, Mrs. Geneva (Roy) Mayes, Mrs. Bobbie Jean (Robert) McCoy, Ms. Erica (Demarrio) Sharper, Ms. Carolyn Davis Brown all of Americus, GA Mr. Daniel Woods of Americus, GA and Sir Edward Woods of Atlanta, GA; two aunts: Ms. Clara Daniels, Ms. Queenie Gary; grandchildren: Mr. Quashawn Hayes, Mr. Latraivios Hayes, Mr. Quandaerius Hayes, Mr. Devin Hayes, Ms. Shantoria Calloway; nieces: Ms. Ann Dean, Ms. Ginny Woods, Ms. Ruby (Travis) Woods, Ms. Aretha (Fred) Woods; nephews: Mr. Logan (Sharon) Tookes, Mr. Henry (Diane) Woods, Charles (Lisa) Tookes; two caring and dedicated nurses: Suzanne Nordwall and Loretta Turner; several other relatives and friends also survive.

Ms. Agnes Elaine Tucker was born on August 20, 1955 in Hinesville, Georgia to Mrs. Lucille Tucker and the late Willie D. Tucker. Agnes loved puzzles, reading and children, she was the neighborhood mom. She passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, 2020 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.

Left to cherish her memory are her two children: Antonio (Tahisha) Tucker and Drexel (Reniesha) Tucker; her siblings:  Alex Tucker, Albert Tucker, Alexia (Bobby) Woodham, Aletha (Robert) Hagin, Andre (Lisa) Tucker, Antony Tucker, Andrew (Angela) Tucker, Anthony Tucker and Annette (Dwayne) Stephens; two aunts: Irene Tucker and Doris Thomas; one uncle, Henry Tucker; a special friend, Albert Mills; seven grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.

The Graveside Service for Ms. Mary Butler of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Thursday, August 6, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia. Because of concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, CDC guidelines have limited the number of people that can attend services. Ms. Mary Louise Butler was born November 1, 1949 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Effie Butler and the late Willie Mae Cromer Butler. She departed this life on Thursday, July 30, 2020. Five brothers and a sister preceded her in death: Jeff, F.H., Frank,Ted, Charlie Ed and Linda. 

Mary attended the public school system of Macon County, whereas she was a student at D.F. Douglass High School. She was a dedicated member of Magnolia Baptist Church where she served as an usher and on the food committee. She was also a former member of the Macon County Branch NAACP and an active voice at City Council meetings. Mary was a hard worker. She was employed at Southern Frozen Foods, Macon County Board of Education, Macon County Sheriff's Office, Perry's Chicken and the Oaks Nursing Home, where she served as a cook.

Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory two devoted sons: Mr. Tony Lewis Butler, Sr. of Atlanta, Georgia and Mr. Carlton Marquez Butler of Edgefield, South Carolina; eleven loving grandchildren: Simone, Toni, Chasity, Tony Jr., Marcus, Cullen, Tiekhia, Carltae, Timothy, Dezireyi and Kiara; two precious great-grandsons: Tyson and Tyler; three sisters: Mrs. Dorothy B. Engram of Montezuma, Georgia, Mrs. Mattie Ree Hobes (Willie) of Greensboro, Georgia and Mrs. Gail B. Walker (Robert) of Montezuma, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Sue Butler of Pinehurst, Georgia; an aunt, Mrs. Reva Paisley of Jesup, Georgia; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and many loving and dedicated special friends.

The graveside service for Mr. George Washington Carter, Jr. of Americus, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Eastview Cemetery. Mr. Carter passed on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.

Ms. Rosalin Dickson, partner, aunt, sister, mentor, and precious friend, can be appropriately described as a black women’s health networker, world traveler, and historian. Roze was beloved by her family and friends. As a world traveler with a brilliant mind and compassionate heart, she significantly impacted all whose path she crossed.

Roze was born on November 8, 1951 in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida to U.D. Dickson and Eugenia West McRoy.  She later relocated to Montezuma, Georgia where she was raised and reared as the lifetime daughter of the late Lucy Bell Cromer Johnson and John H. Johnson.

She leaves to cherish her memory, a devoted and dedicated partner, Debbie Newman of New York, a loving mother, Eugenia McRoy of Tallahassee, FL, two sisters: Juanita Dickson Peterson and Sherri Dickson of Washington, DC; brothers:  Dr. Kenneth McRoy of Eustis, FL, Gregory (Ronnie) McRoy, Sr. of Jacksonville, FL, James (Deidre) McRoy, Sr. of Tallahassee, FL, Antjuan Dickson of Rochester, New York and Vernard Dickson of Washington, DC; uncle, Hubert (Ernestine) West of Montezuma, GA; father-in-law, Dr. Marty Newman, of Albany, New York; three sisters-in-law: Sandy Barber of Stoughton, MA, Bonnie Wiener and Lisa McGee, both of Albany, NY; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.

A graveside service for Mr. Kenneth Terrell Rush of Americus, Georgia will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Eastview Cemetery with Bishop Melvin McCluster officiating.

Kenneth Terrell Rush, known as Tee to loved ones unexpectedly passed away on July 26th, 2020 in Macon, Georgia at the age of 47.

Tee was born to James and Robin Johnson on December 9, 1972 in Americus, Georgia. He graduated from Americus High School in 1991 then attended Albany State University to pursue a degree in computer science. Shortly after he left the Albany Police Department, Tee enrolled into the Army, serving our country for over 6 years as a medical professional. While in the military he earned several decorations, including the Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Badge, Sharp Shooter Badge and an accomplished medical specialization.

After his military service Tee worked as a Guard at the Calhoun Correctional Facility and then joined the Albany State Police Department. After moving to Atlanta Tee began a 12-year career at Norfolk Southern as a Conductor and worked his way up the ranks to Train Master. Tee was a generous and witty person who loved his children dearly and was passionate about his career and setting an example for his siblings.

Kenneth Rush (Tee) is survived by his parents, James and Robin Johnson; his wife, Angel Rush; daughters, TaSheena Kinney (Francois) and Kennedy Rush; siblings, Sekeithia Brooks (Wayne), Orenza Johnson (Glenese), Kimberly Johnson, Darius Johnson (Trina); Ronald Solomon, grandchildren Jalen and Lauren Kinney; aunts, Malinda Morgan, JoAnn Waymon, Mertis Johsnon; uncle Miller Rush (Emma), Mark Clark; cousins, Yohannes Hollis, Terrence Rush (Yanti), Tamika Whitlock (Terrence), Shaketia Morgan, Travis Rush (Carla); a host of nieces, nephews, He is preceded in death by his grandmother, Mrs. Helen O. Wright Barner and his great-grandmother, Gertrude Hollis johnson; other relatives and friends, including devoted friends, Charlie, Marcus, Chris, Derreck, Timothy and Earnest.

Mr. Kenneth Reaves II of Americus, GA died on Wednesday, July 22, at Navient Healthcare in Macon, Georgia. A Celebration of Life Ceremony  will be held on Saturday August 1, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at Georgia Veterans Park (Lake Blackshear).

 Mr. Kenneth Reaves, II was born to Kenneth Reaves, Ph.D. and Terri Onick on July 15, 1993 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was 27. Kenneth was a vibrant child and that carried that with him throughout his life. He brought life and laughter to those around him.

Kenneth Reaves, II is survived by his wife: Trinity Reaves; his three children: Keyshawn Reaves, A’zria Smith and Raimon West; his parents:  Kenneth Reaves, Ph.D. and Terri Onick; his brother: Ameer Onick; his sisters: Kier Singleton, Alexis Smith, Maqueisha Smith; his grandparents: Quinten and Carolyn Gresham, Rita Mae Williams; his aunts: Marilyn Reaves, Jean A. Humphries, Stephanie & Curtis Peoples; his uncles: Rodgers Reaves, Quinten Gresham, III., Ché Gresham; his great Aunts: Sannie Mae Doston, Ida Hicks, Ola & Dennis Hall, Laverne and Charles Comer, Lola Russell and Kay Gresham; his great uncle: Sanford Cross.

Kenneth lived the first part of his life the greater Atlanta area. Growing up he enjoyed playing soccer, basketball and football. His greatest joy was dancing. He loved to put the music on, and he would just get to moving. He loved showing the children how to dance and making them smile.

At the age of 13, Kenneth moved with his mom (Terri) and brother (Ameer) to the greater Miami, Florida area. While in Miami he continued to dance and entertain those around him. He participated in a Hip-Hop dance team while he attended Dr. Michael Krop Senior High School.

In 2017, he would come to meet Trinity Smith. They would eventually marry December 13, 2019. Out of that union would come, Keyshawn Ameer Reaves, born January 16, 2020. During this union Kenneth would come to love, cherish and raise A’zria Smith and Raymond “RJ” West as his own.

Mr. James Moten Simpson, Jr. of Americus, Georgia passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. A private service will be held on Monday, August 3, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Andersonville National Cemetery. Due to Covid-19 concerns, there is a limit of 25 people that can attend the service. We ask that you please MASK UP and continue social distancing for your protection and for the safety of others.

“Simp” or Jr. as he was fondly known by his family, was born on September 28, 1951 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late James M. Simpson, Sr. and the late Ollie Mae Laster Simpson. He gave his life to the Lord at an early age and joined the Greater Cedar Spring Baptist Church of Plains, Georgia.

"Simp" was educated in the public schools of Sumter County by attending Eastview Elementary and graduating from Staley High School of Americus, Georgia.   He also attended Georgia Southwestern College and South Georgia Technical School.   From 1976 – 1979, he enlisted in the United States Navy. After his tour of duty, he enlisted into the Navy Reserve.  Simp was employed for 25 years at Mullite Company of America in Andersonville, Georgia. He was a member of the American Legion #558.  It was known by all “Simp was a diehard fan of the San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bulls.”   He also enjoyed telling his favorite Uncle Oscar’s jokes.

Simp was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ollie Simpson; his grandparents, Deacon R. D. Laster and Rosa Lee Laster Mansfield Laster, Ed and Josephine (Sis.) Simpson; six aunts: Jessie, Mary A. Laster, Flora Monts, Emma Hicks, Johnnie Mae Cooks and Josie Simpson; eight uncles: Curtis, Jose, Marcellous, Jesse, Roosevelt Simpson, Robert and Arthur Laster.   

On May 8, 1993 he married Patricia Harris, and he leaves to cherish his memories three sons: James Moten Simpson, III of Covington, Georgia, Morris and Brandon Williams of Americus, Georgia; grandchildren:  Tredarrian Jakee, Anyah Tre’Mani Simpson of Covington, Georgia, Zaedyn Dismukes of Dothan, Alabama, Caden and Brylan Williams of Valdosta, Georgia, Peyton and Bella Williams of Americus, Georgia;  one devoted and lovely sister,  Mrs. Annie “Sue” (Thomas) Douglas of McDonough, Georgia; two aunts:  Mrs. Roxie Wakefield of Jacksonville, Florida and Mrs. Retha Dean (Lorenza) Thomas of Americus, Georgia; two uncles: Johnny Laster and Frankie (Minister Cloris) Laster of Americus, Georgia;  two great aunts:  Mrs. Susie Mae Hicks and Mrs. Sylvia Mae Hicks of Americus, Georgia; two devoted nephews: Roderick (Tracy) Douglas of Americus, Georgia and Thomas L. On July 20, 2020, Brandy departed her life at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center.  She is preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Willie Dorsey Furlow, Jr. and Mrs. Georgia Ann Furlow; grandparents: Mrs. Brownie Lee Dunn, Mr. Willie Dorsey Furlow, Sr. and Mrs. Pauline Stephens Furlow; uncles: Mr. Willie Lee Dunn, Mr. Charles Jerome Dunn and Mr. Sammie Lee Dunn; and cousin Chisa Tenise Dunn.
