The funeral service for Mr. Havolia Walters of Americus, GA will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Allen Chapel AME Church. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

On January 20, 1951 Havolia Walters, Sr. was born in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Sammie Lee Walters Sr. and the late Irene Terry Walters. He was educated in the public school system and graduated from A.S Staley High School in 1969. He was a member of the A.S. Staley Magnificent Marching Band where he played the French Horn At an early age he joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was married to the former Mrs. Barbara Ann Stewart Walters of Americus, GA. For several years Havolia worked as a welder and was employed at IMC Fertilizer Company and Caravelle Boats where he retired.

He was preceded in death by two daughters: Tameka Raquel Walters and Tabitha Walters; three brothers: Arthur Lee Walters, Eddie Lee Walters, Sr. and Sammie Lee Walters, Jr. and a nephew, Eddie Lee "Thick" Walters, Jr. Havolia passed peacefully on Friday, January 31, 2020 at Navicent Healthcare in Macon, GA.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters: Tukeithia Michelle Walters of Warner Robins, GA and Tukeiko Charonta Walters of Americus, GA; one son, Havolia Walters Jr. of Warner Robins, GA; one brother, Darrell (Claudia) Walters of Americus, GA; three sisters: Deborah (LaMorris) Bell of Detroit, MI, Christine Walters of Americus, GA and Sekeithia Gayle Walters of Leesburg GA; one uncle, Aaron (Barbara) Walters, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; ten grandchildren: Jarrion Wallters, Nikkolis Walters, Alexis Walters, Makayla Walters, Yasmin Johnson, Ebonie Mack, Destiny Walters, Kabron Wright, Lamia Wright and Chinika Walters; six nephews: Kahlif Walters, Travis Walters, Keith Tatum, Cedric Walters, Cortez Walters and Quintin Walters; six nieces: Tondrea Burton, Sekiethia Denise Wright, Iris Cummings, Shadarrien Walters, Christiany Walters, Angela Holt; a devoted friend Helen Jackson Tyner and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

The funeral service for Mr. Jessie Lee Hart will be Saturday, Jan. 25, 2020 at 2:00 at Shipp Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Clinton officiating. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery

Mr. Jessie Lee Hart, affectionately known as "Bone", was born December 28, 1963, in Americus, GA to the late Charles Neal Hart and the late Gladys Hart.  He was the 8th of eleven children.  He was preceded in death by three brothers, Steven Porter, James Porter, and Ronald Hart; a sister, Earnestine Hart; two brothers-in-law, William Kearse and Henry Key. Lee passed away on Friday, January 17, 2020 in Columbia, South Carolina.  

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife - Tonya Hart; six stepchildren: Takeita Clark, Ebony Paulk, Trynesa McGarrah, Demetrius McGarrah, Kelvin McGarrah, and Jerard Dantzler; a devoted companion Daphne McNeal; three sisters: Betty Daniels of Fort Valley, Georgia, Judy Key of Americus, Georgia, and Patricia Kearse of Columbia, South Carolina; six brothers: Donald (Phyllis) Hart of Fort Valley, GA, Cleveland (Donnie) Porter, Charles Hart, and Ricky Hart of Americus, GA, Tommy Hart, Atlanta GA, Johnny Hart, Columbia, SC; one sister-in-law, Robin Porter of Columbia, SC, and devoted friend, Mr. Cosmma. A host of nieces, nephews, and cousins and friends including his faithful pet Caesar also survive him.

Mr. Sammy Bernard Twenty affectionately known as “Nard” or “Jap 20” was born in Americus, Georgia on July 4, 1976 to the late Mrs. Lorene Small Twenty and the late Mr. Isiah “Head” Twenty. “Nard” passed peacefully on Friday, January 17, 2020 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by a sister, Tina Twenty and a brother Michael Twenty

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Zion Hope Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Israel Cemetery.

Left to cherish his memories are his four sisters: Sandra Twenty, Lorraine Twenty Banks, Peggy Twenty and Coffy Twenty Johnson; two brothers: Eddie Quwenty and Isiah Twenty. Jr. a host of nieces, nephews and friends including a devoted friend Keisha Ingram

The funeral service for Mr. Johnie Davis Ware of Americus, GA will be held on Saturday, January 18, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Salem Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Hill Cemetery.
 
Mr. Johnie Davis Ware, affectionately called “Cal” or “Brother”, was born in Sumter County, Georgia on January 29, 1946 to the late Ossie Lee Dodson Little and the late Judas Ware. He departed this life on January 9, 2020 at the home of his daughter, Barbara Walton. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ernestine Ware Dice and Johnnie Mae Little and one brother, Willie Clarence Ware.
 
Johnie leaves to cherish his memories one son, John (Bridget) Ware of Port St. Lucie, Florida; two daughters: Barbara Walton of Americus, Georgia and Minister Chantaye (Sylvester) Watson of Grovetown, Georgia; one sister, Marie Thomas of Rochester, New York; three brothers: Milton Little of Americus, Georgia, John (Irene) Little and Melvin (Bertha) Little of Plains, Georgia; seven grandchildren: Javonte (Leila) Watson of West Palm Beach, Florida, Sylvester Watson, Jr. of Grovetown, Georgia, Jade S. Ware of Port St. Lucie, Florida, Tony, John and Anntwonette Walton of Americus, Georgia and Eleanor Asberry of Columbus, Georgia; three great grandchildren: Kalale G. Veteran Charlie Harry Varner

The Funeral Service for Veteran Charlie Harry Varner of Americus, Georgia will be held on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 12:00 Noon at the Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.

Charlie H. Varner was born July 27, 1947 in Ellaville, Georgia. He was nurtured by his loving grandparents, the late Mr. George Varner and Mrs. Claudia Varner and his parents, the late Mr. James Hiawatha Ross and Mrs. Mary Varner Ross.

First Class Petty Officer Charlie H. Varner peacefully entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. A dear one has gone from us; a voice we love is still. A place in our heart is vacant that can nevermore be filled. Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Minister Gloria Golphin Varner on January 14, 2018.  Siblings, James Ross Jr. and Mary Ross Stephens also preceded him in death.

At an early age Charlie accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and was a former member of New Corinth Baptist Church of Ellaville, Georgia. He was educated in the public school system of Schley County where he graduated in 1964 from John Lewis High School. After completing high school, Charlie enlisted in the United States Navy in 1965. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy for more than twenty years. Charlie qualified and was chosen to be part of United States Navy’s Silent Service, Submarine Duty to which he served on fully submerged vessels hundreds of feet underwater for extended time periods; many times as the only African- American submariner.  Charlie persevered and was a credit to his country, the United States Navy and his race.  He served on the USS Pollack (SSN603), the USS Whale (SSN638) and the USS Greenling (SSN614). Charlie received numerous commendations while in the Navy, which included the Meritorious Unit Commendation from USS Pollack (SSN603), Meritorious Unit Commendation from USS Greenling (SSN614), Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Good Conduct Award, National Defense Service Medal, Navy Commendation Ribbon, Battle Efficiency Award, Commander Sixth Fleet Letter of Commendation, Navy Expeditionary Award and many other awards during his military career.

After returning to Georgia, he later joined Little Creek Baptist Church of Lilly, Georgia. During retirement Charlie enjoyed cooking delicious meals, attending church, and helping others.  He had a sharp mind, full of wisdom, and offered spiritual encouragement to many people.

Charlie leaves to cherish his memories his children: Minister Jeanettia Varner, Valerie Varner Williams (Ricardo) all of New London, Connecticut and Charlie H. Varner, Jr. (Ann) of Delaware; his sisters: Jackie Ross and  Linda Ross of Americus, Georgia, Patty (Lee) Young of Rockwall, Texas and Sandy Colwell of McDonough, Georgia; brothers-in-law; Willie Golphin (Elma) of Americus, Georgia, Reverend Freddie Golphin of Oglethorpe, Georgia, Lonzia Golphin (Helen) of Americus, Georgia and James E. Golphin of Memphis, Tennessee; a sister-in-law, Janace Golphin Davis (Donnie) of Byron, Georgia; nine grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Mr. Travis Antwan King of Americus, GA will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 10:00 A.M. at the Shipp Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Clinton officiating.

Mr. Travis Antwan King was born on January 21, 1982 in Americus Georgia to the late Nettie King and the late Johnny Clark. He attended school in Americus, Georgia and later attended Turner Job Corps Center where he studied landscaping. He was employed at Factory Direct Marine. Travis died on Tuesday, January 7, 2020 at the Phoebe–Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.

He is survived by his children: Travis A. King Jr. and Nettie King both of Vienna GA, Kelesia Dowdell and Arianna Dowdell both of Americus, GA; his grandmother, Idella-Smith Clark; four brothers: Robert Avriett of Lakeland GA, Christopher Stone of Warner Robins, GA, Javan Clark of Syracuse, NY and Jamarcus Hill of Montezuma, GA; four nieces: Siniya Josey,  Arriana Avriett, La’miracle Avriett and Ra’netta Avriett all of Americus, GA; one nephew-Cayden Stone of Warner Robins, GA; three aunts: Joann Clark Waymon of Montezuma, GA, Mary (Jeff) Atkins of Jonesboro, GA and Myrtice Johnson of Brooklyn, NY; two uncles, Willie (Robin) Johnson of Americus, GA and Mack Clark, Montezuma GA; A devoted friend Melissa English of Americus GA and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr Eugene "Gene" Goodin

The funeral service for Mr. Eugene Goodin of Smithville, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Green Grove Baptist Church in Smithville, Georgia. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Eugene Goodin, known to many as “Gene, “Chief”, “Man”, or “Godfather”, was born in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Willie B. Gooden and the late Mrs. Mae Bertha Sims Gooden. At an early age, he joined Bethlehem Baptist Church in Plains, Georgia.

Eugene was educated in the Falls School System of Sumter County, until he decided to work for the family business selling ice and pulp wood. He learned how to work and fix on cars and decided to open up his own business, where he continued his passion for fixing on vehicles and tending to his collard greens. For many years, he was the owner and operator of Goodins' Phillips 66 and Goodins' Garage, until his health failed. He loved playing checkers, raking his daughters' yards, picking up pecans, telling jokes and motorcycles. In 1962, he was united in holy matrimony to Jeanette Lewis Goodin. They were blessed with three children.

On January 5, 2020, at home with his family, he quietly transitioned to his heavenly home to be with the Lord. He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years Mrs. Jeanette Lewis Goodin, son Stanley Goodin, only grandson Jay Goodin, sister Ozzie Bell Terry, and nephew Carlton Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his legacy of memories in the lives of his two devoted daughters: Theresa (Ricky) Myrick and Chatriala "Vonda" Goodin (Willie), both of Smithville, Georgia; two sons: Kelvin Bowens of Tacoma, Washington and Justin Bowens of Tampa, Florida; two granddaughters: Shalnica (Nicholas) French and LaVona "Chantall" Goodin; two great granddaughters: Eiliyah Brown and Jailah French all of Smithville, Georgia; a brother, Willie (Millicent) Gooden of Springfield, Virginia; a sister, Minnie Cooper of Americus, Georgia; two brothers-in-law: Robert Lee Lewis of Atlanta, Georgia and Randolph Lewis of Smithville, Georgia; a sister-in-law, Linda (Charlie) Thomas of Smithville, Georgia; a caring niece, Veronica Terry-Arline of Americus, Georgia; a devoted cousin, Clyde Tullis of Americus, Georgia; family pets: Tiny and Max; a multitude of caring nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
