The Graveside Service for Infant Khylin DeMarcus Walters will be held Saturday, May 23, 2020 at noon at Eastview Babyland Cemetery, Americus, Georgia. CDC guidelines allow only 10 people including ministers and funeral staff to attend all services. This will be strictly enforced by local Law Enforcement.

On May 16, 2020, God saw Khylin DeMarcus Walters struggling for life so He sent darling angels to take him to his heavenly home. Khylin was born at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center, Americus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers: Havolia Walters, Sr. and Willie Wright.

Khylin is survived by his parents: Tukeiko C. Walters and Adrian L. Wright; his siblings: Kabron Wright and Lamia K. Wright; his grandmothers: Barbara Jones and Ethel Wright all of Americus, Georgia; host of aunts and uncles also survive.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Samuel James "SJ" Thomas of Montezuma, Georgia will be conducted Friday, May 15, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. at Shade Arnold Baptist Church Cemetery, Highway 26 East, Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor George Porter, Jr. officiating. CDC Guidelines allow only 10 people including ministers and funeral staff to attend all services. Because of concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic, please practice social distancing and wear masks for your safety and the safety of others. 

Mr. Samuel James Thomas, affectionately known as “SJ” was the son of the late Victoria McKenzie Thomas and Albert Thomas II. He was born on May 28, 1940 in Macon County, Georgia. SJ grew up in Montezuma and attended the public schools of the county. He attended the Historic D.F. Douglass High School, which opened in 1958 and was a member of the first graduating class, the Class of 1959.

He was introduced to Christ as a child and was baptized at Shade Arnold Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Mr. Thomas was a man of humility. He was a God fearing man and a faithful member of Shade Arnold Baptist Church. He was a dedicated employee of Robins Air Force Base and retired after forty-five years of service. Mr. Thomas was a resourceful man who provided for his family by being a hardworking farmer and the owner of Thomas Pest Control Company for many years.

On April 7, 1962, he married the love of his life, Annie Lee Hubbard. This union was blessed with four children, Terry, Vonda, Darlene and Bernette. He had a special love for his family. He was a loving husband, wonderful father and grandfather. He was also a strong and gentle giant.  

Samuel James Thomas heard the voice of Jesus and took his heavenly flight on Saturday, May 9, 2020 at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brother Albert Thomas III and sister Eloise Thomas Hudson (Ernest).

Those left to carry on his legacy are his loving wife of fifty-eight years, Annie Lee Thomas of Montezuma, Georgia; his children: Terry and Veronica Thomas of Salisbury, North Carolina, Vonda and Joe Moore of Vinegrove, Kentucky, Darlene and Amos Whitehead and Bernette and Dexter McKenzie of Montezuma, Georgia; ten grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Jet Hubbert (Barbara) of Columbus, Ohio, Linda Johnson of Warner Robins, Georgia, Thomas Hubbard of Ellaville, Georgia, Rosa Hubbard of Vienna, Georgia, Mary Louise Collier of Perry, Georgia, Vera Solomon, Myra H. Oliver, Hattie Hubbard and Betty Jo McKenzie of Montezuma, Georgia; aunt, Alena Burnam of Montezuma, Georgia; Godchildren: Johnnie Mae Tookes (Nathaniel) and Shannon Minger; God grandchildren: Johnnathian Tookes and Granada Ridley, Jr.; special nephews: Jonathan Hillman (Shay), Mark James (Porscha) and KC Cochran and family; a host of other loving relatives and friends.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Claude Lee Forbes of Montezuma, Georgia will be conducted Wednesday, May 13, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Champ Waters Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor Linda Forbes and Reverend William Rand officiating. CDC Guidelines allow only 10 people including ministers and funeral staff to attend all services. Romans 14:8 states, "For if we live, we live unto the Lord; and if we die, we die unto the Lord…" The only comfort and security we have in this life is that we belong to the Lord. 

Claude was merely lent to us as a son, a brother, a husband, a father, and a friend until May 9, 2020, when the Lord called him home. All who love him will truly miss him, and will always carry him in our hearts.

Claude Lee Forbes was born the second eldest of six children on August 20, 1951 to Alex Forbes and Annie Claude Collier Forbes. He was reared in Montezuma, Georgia. After graduating from D.F. Douglass High School, he enlisted in the United States Army. He later was employed with Scarbury Propane. It was during this time, he decided traveling was his true love. Claude became a truck driver and traveled the country. He became known by hundreds of fellow drivers and friends as "Big Buddy". At the time of his departure, he was the owner of Forbes Trucking in Montezuma, Georgia.

On December 31, 1988, Claude married his best friend, Linda Diane Willis, who remained by his side until his departure. During their thirty-one years of marriage, they traveled, reared their children, and shared good and bad times together.

Claude is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Alex “Dap” Forbes, Jr.  Left to celebrate his life are his loving wife, Linda Willis Forbes; his beloved children: Caleb (Ashley) Forbes, Claude Forbes, Jr., Demetria Forbes, Shernann Forbes, Calondra (Daryl McDonald) Forbes, Marcus Joseph and Cherale (Ahmad) Willis-Ford; his grandchildren: Mariah Willis, Kapres Forbes, Maiyah Willis, Keion Blalock, Myauna Garner, Jarquelle Warren, Markiya Hudson, Ja’Nahla Warren, Savannah Greene, Ahrian Ford and Saxon Lee Forbes; his siblings: Darrell Forbes, Gwen Forbes, Carolyn Forbes all of Montezuma, Georgia and Susan (Homer) Causey of Atlanta, Georgia; his mother-in-law, Betty Willis Engram of Montezuma, Georgia; his aunts and uncles: Nannie Tookes, Mary Harrison, Bertha Fobbs, Bernice Collier, Charles (Mazarena) Allen all of Montezuma, Georgia, Martha (John) Keller of Englewood, New Jersey, Janie Smith of Savannah, Georgia and Mary (James) Washington of Cocoa, Florida; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Charlie Lee Thomas, 65 of Montezuma, Georgia; affectionately known as “Chuck” entered into eternal rest on Friday, May 1, 2020 while residing at the Fort Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Fort Valley, Georgia.  Chuck was born on April 26, 1955 as one of the eighteen children to the late Willie B. and Rosa Mae Thomas of Montezuma, Georgia.  He was born into Christianity and was a lifelong member of the Holy House of God Church in Montezuma, Georgia.

Mr. Tommy Lee McGarrah affectionately known as "Goatman" passed away on Saturday, April 18, 2020 at Candler Hospital in Savannah, Georgia.

 The Graveside Service for Andre E. Simmons, Michael L. Battle, Jr. and Gabriel D. Battle of Oglethorpe, Georgia will be held on Friday, May 1, 2020 at Oglethorpe City Cemetery, Oglethorpe, Georgia with Reverend Alfred Wynn officiating.  Our precious, happy, energetic, sweet and loving boys died tragically in a house fire on Saturday, April 18, 2020.

Mr. Samuel Lamar Minter was born in Buena Vista, Georgia on November 19, 1954 to Johnnie Winbush Minter and the late Samuel Minter, Sr. He was educated in the Marion County School System. He was employed at several jobs including John Houston Food, Cargill Poultry and as a pulpwood worker. Samuel passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins, Georgia. He was preceded in death by one son, Jomeka Minter; a grandson, Devontae Minter and four siblings.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced later by West’s Mortuary

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Nettie Minter of Buena Vista, GA; seven children: Samuel Minter of Columbus, OH, Louann Minter and Maurice Minter both of Buena Vista, GA, Veronica Hunter, Adrian Hunter, Kenyada Minter and Sammio Minter all of Americus, GA; his mother, Johnnie Minter of Buena Vista, GA; two siblings: Jeffery Minter of Fort Benning, GA  and Timothy Minter of Olympia, WA. Several other relatives and friends also survive.
