The Graveside Service for Mrs. Mozelle W. Harpe of Americus, GA will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Freeman Hill Cemetery with Rev. Curtis Iverson officiating.

On January 4, 2021 God saw fit to call Mozelle W. Harpe affectionately known as “Mole” home to rest. Mozelle W. Harpe was born on June 16, 1943 to the parentage of the late Mr. Moses Walters and the late Mrs. Willie Lou Hammock Walters. She received her education in the public school system of Sumter County GA.  She was a wonderful sister, a caring mother, an awesome grandmother and an amazing aunt.  She was certainly the Matriarch of our family.  She worked at McClesky Mills and then Best Western until her health failed.  She is now united in the afterlife with the Lord and her siblings that passed on before her: Alice Barner, Emma Lee Cross, Willie Mae Montgomery, James Walters, and Charlie Walters. Also her son Jessie B. Walters and great grandchild Damya Walters.

She leaves to mourn her departure her daughter, Ms. Mary D. Walters and son Mr. Sammie Lee Harpe both of Americus, GA; four grandchildren: Mrs. Lakisha (Trell) Merritt of Macon, GA, Mr. Cedric (Tanisha) Smith, Mr. Torris (Kisha) Smith and Mr. Damian (Sarah) Smith all of Americus, GA; eight great grandchildren: Chanteria Merritt, Kentavious Flowers, Cedric Smith Jr., Shakayla Smith, Na’Liyah Merritt, Mariah Smith and Shania Walters; one great great grandchild, Bradley Gordon; siblings: Ms. Annie Bell Holmes, Ms. Mary Lee Walters and Mr. Henry Walters all of Americus, GA. A host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends survive.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Sammie Lee White of Americus, GA will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. George F. Monts officiating.

 Mr. Sammie Lee White was born in Plains, GA on June 10, 1944 to the late Samuel Lee and Christine Fudge White. He attended the public schools of Sumter County. Sammie Lee was affectionately known as “Sammie Lee”, “Granddaddy”, “Daddy” or “Pop Pop”. He enjoyed playing dominos and playing and running after his great grandchildren. He was friendly and giving to those who were around him. He enjoyed cooking, especially cutting collards that were so small you thought they had been through a shredder. He fried chicken better than KFC and thought he was the best mechanic in the world.  He would often say “I ain’t old, I’m a young man”. Daddy lived his life by his own rules and nobody else's. Daddy will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his only sister Mary Lou White Mency and four brothers: Albert White, James White, Gene White and Louis White.

He leaves behind his wife Mrs. Brenda Black White of Montezuma, GA; a loving and devoted aunt, Mrs. Ruth Mae Dowdell (Ernest Mathis); three caring daughters: Joyce White, Geraldine (John) Ware all of Americus, GA and Janice Williams of Jonesboro, GA; one son-in-law, David L. Williams  of Jonesboro, GA and two sisters-in-law: Lea Anna White and Ola Mae White both of Americus, GA; six beloved grandchildren: Shanika (Terry) Yearby Tatum of Americus, GA, Jalisa (Donyall) Aldridge Ingram of Perry, GA, Seconya White, Yolynda Lynette Brown, Lonnie Goodwin, III and Jantwan Demorus Twiggs all of Americus, GA; seven precious great grandchildren: Terrius,Taraji, Donyall Jr, Don’Javion, Don’Nyla, Don’Licia and DonTravious; nine nieces: Maxine (McArthur) Jackson, Melissa Mency, Monica Mencey, Carolyn White, Michelle (James) Davis, Laura White, Cassandra (Bernard) Monts, Geneva (Claude) Waters and Christina White; one nephew James Earl (Latoya) White; a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Kenneth Bernard Solomon of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Jamaica Kelly, officiating. Kenneth Bernard Solomon, affectionately called “Buddy” by his family and “B” by his friends, was born on June 19, 1965 in Macon County, Georgia to the late Patricia Solomon Biddle and James Dennis. He grew up in Montezuma and attended the public schools of the county. At an early age, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior. He was a member of New Piney Grove Baptist Church. He was a 1983 graduate of D.F. Douglass High School and was a member of the mighty D.F. Douglass Hornets football team. His hobbies included playing football and basketball. He enjoyed listening to music and cooking on the grill with his cousin. He was a “wanna be” mechanic who loved to pull up YouTube videos and work on his vehicles.

Mr. Solomon was previously employed at Tyson Foods in Vienna, Georgia and Rapid Packing in Perry, Georgia. His most recent place of employment was Ecoflo Company, Inc. in Americus, Georgia.

On Thursday, December 31, 2020, Kenneth Bernard Solomon departed this earthly life for eternal life. He passed away at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. His life, his love, and his laughter will forever be cherished by his daughters: Katrice (Michael) James of Peekskill, New York and Lesley Rockamore of Connecticut; his grandchildren: Michael and Kyzia James of Peekskill, New York; his father, James Dennis of Montezuma, Georgia; his brother, Kevin (Tracy) Solomon of Fort Valley, Georgia; his half-brothers: Michael Oliver and Darrell McDonald; his nephew, Rakim Solomon of Texas; devoted aunts: Dorothy Solomon of Montezuma, Georgia and Peggy (James) Hankerson of Oglethorpe, Georgia; devoted cousins: Barbara Solomon Greer and John Solomon of Montezuma, Georgia; a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Emma Ruth Walton Lewis was the second oldest of eight children born to the parentage of the late Mr. J. B. (Stag) Walton and the late Mrs. Emma Mae Brantley Walton of Americus, Georgia.  She attended school at Westside Elementary School in Plains, Georgia and at Sumter County High School, Americus, GA.

She was preceded in death by her older brother J. B. Walton, Jr. on December 15, 2020 in Miami, Florida. Mrs. Lewis passed away on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. The Graveside Service will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at Antioch Cemetery in Americus, Georgia. Mrs. Lewis joined the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and later united with the First Albany Deliverance Cathedral in Albany, Georgia under the leadership of the late Apostle Isaiah Revills.  She later came with Pastor Rosa Fowler to Americus to the United Holiness Deliverance Temple, now under the leadership of Pastor Michael Fowler.

She is survived by her husband Mr. Albert Lewis; two daughters: Shavonne Renee Lewis and Tamara Lewis; one son, Eric Lewis (LaTondia) all of  Americus, Georgia; one step-daughter, Geisla Lewis, Americus, GA;  five grandchildren: Tas’janna, Aamiya, Ja’rod, Navione and Elijah; two step-grandchildren: Michael and Mi’Yonna; her siblings: Reatha Greene, Dr. Mattie P. Walton, Eunice (James) Hawkins, Americus, GA, Willie Bell Walton, Smithville, GA, James and Johnny Walton, Miami, FL; three aunts: Mrs. Ozie Mae Walton, Albany, GA, Catherine Volley and Susie Wafford, Americus, GA; one uncle, Rev. W.G. Grover, Leslie, GA. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. J. B. Walton, Jr., of Miami, Florida formerly of Americus, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at his home in Miami, Florida. Mr. Walton was the oldest of 8 children born to the late Mr.  J. B. “Stag” Walton, Sr. and the late Mrs. Emma Mae Brantley Walton. “Jr.” as he was affectionately known, attended Westside Elementary School, Plains, GA and Sumter County High School, Americus, GA.  At an early age he moved to Miami, FL with his friend Bubba.  He worked for Kendall Toyota Company as a Master Mechanic until he retired.

The Funeral service for Mrs. Betty Ruth Collier Haynes is scheduled for Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Eastview Cemetery with Rev. Christopher O’Bryant officiating.

Mrs. Betty Ruth Collier was born on November 5, 1935 in Ellaville Georgia to the late Mrs. Addie Black Collier and the late Mr. Charlie Collier. She was employed as a Computer Technician at Alpha Metal and retired from there after 45 years of service. She was a faithful servant of Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Jersey City, NJ where she served on the Usher’s Board, Florist Circle and Pastor’s Aid Committee for over 50 years. She was married to the late Mr. Marvin Haynes. Mrs. Haynes, surrounded by family and friends, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 18, 2020 at the home of her daughter in Americus, GA.

Mrs. Haynes is survived by her devoted daughter, Ms. Sylvia Jones of Americus, GA; two sisters: Mrs. Bernice Collier of Jersey City, NJ and Mrs. Celcia Patterson of Fort Pierce, FL; and three grandchildren: Kedrick Collier and Marvin Jones both of Americus, GA and Shanika Jones of Albany, GA; seventeen great grandchildren and one great, great grandchild all of Americus, GA; a devoted niece Ms. Pattie Jean Young of Americus GA and a devoted friend and companion of her daughter, Mr. Charles Ingram of Americus, GA.  Several other relatives and friends also survive

Ms. Alice Ruth Gordon of Americus, Georgia passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany Georgia. The Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Zion Hope Baptist Church with Rev. George F. Monts officiating.

Alice “Ruth” Gordon was born January 20, 1959, in Sumter City, Georgia to the late Mr. Otha Lee Bradley and Mrs. Alice Bradley. She was educated at Plains High School in Plains Georgia. She was a faithful member of Zion Hope Baptist Church. Ruth retired from Magnolia Manor after 30+ years of dedicated service. She was preceded in death by her brothers: Herbert Wade Bradley and Richard Bradley and her niece, Tammy Robinson. Ruth peacefully passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany Georgia.

In addition to her mother, Alice Bradley, Alice “Ruth” is survived by her daughter, Anitra (Eric) Brown of Leesburg, Georgia; two step-daughters: Barbara Gordon and Maria Gordon, both of Leslie, Georgia; grandchildren: D’Erica Brown, Eric (Armani) Brown Jr., Jacquise Thomas, Jarvis Brown, Kouranick Whitehead, Erica (David) Thomas and D’Eria Clark; great-grandchildren: Amari Brown, Ryleigh Brown, Kyndall Hubbard, Marissa Hubbard, Brayson Hubbard, Ayvah Reddick, Alaiyah Reddick; her sister, Sandra Bradley of Sumter City, Georgia; her brother, Henry J. Mr. William Andrews, Jr. of Americus, Georgia passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. The Funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, December 19, 2020 at 2:30 P.M. at Mt Zion Webster

Mr. Constance Lee Barnes, Jr. of Marietta, Georgia, formerly of Americus, Georgia passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at Wellstar Cobb Hospital in Cobb, Georgia. Constance was born on December 5, 1963 in Sumter County, Georgia to the late Constance A. Barnes, Sr. and Mary Jean Barnes.

He leaves to cherish his memory his sister, Christine Barnes (Rufus) Thompson; two aunts: Yvonne Barnes and Mattie Sue (William) Harris; two devoted nephews: Kedrick Gary and Keldrick (Brianna) Barnes. Several other relatives and friends also survive.
