Funeral services for Minister Selandra Faye Jordan Jackson of Macon, Georgia formerly of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Friendship Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.

Selandra Faye Jordan Jackson was born in Americus, Georgia on June 30, 1978 to the late Elder Wallace Jordan, Jr and Mrs. Barbara Jordan Green. Selandra was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and joined the Abundant Life Holiness Church. Her continuing and constant love of the Lord led her to the Ministry in 2001. Minister Jackson died on Thursday, April 19, 2012 at her home in Macon, Georgia. She was preceded in death by and an uncle Mr. Hampton Jordan.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted husband, Deacon Gregory Jackson of Macon, Georgia; her devoted mother and step-father, Minister Barbara Green and Deacon Willie Lee Green both of Americus, Georgia; three brothers: Mr. Kendrick Mathis, Pastor Wallace & Regina Jordan of Willachoochee, Georgia, and Mr. Travis Jordan of Perry, Georgia; her father-in-law Mr. James Shelton of Flint MI; two aunts: Ms. Mable Jordan of Atlanta, Georgia and Ms. Francis Lockett of Plains, Georgia; two brothers-in-law: Mr. Larry (Evelyn) Jackson of Americus, Georgia and Mr. David (Jill) Jackson of Stone Mountain, Georgia; two sisters-in-law: Mrs. Shelia (Royal) Jackson Smith and Ms. Stephanie Jackson both of Atlanta, Georgia; devoted friends Lucile Williams, Celesta Stevens, Tasha Katzer and Debra Higgins. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral services for Ms. Stephanie Ann Brown age 44, affectionately known as “Pooh Pooh” will be held on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 at 11:30 A.M. at the Union Tabernacle Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia with Rev. Larry Sims officiating. Burial will follow at the Poplar Springs Cemetery in Preston, Georgia.

Ms. Stephanie Ann Brown was born on November 16, 1967 in Hartford CT to the late Thomas (Teletia) Brown and the late Quida Brown. At an early age her family moved to Webster County where she attended Tri-County High School. While in school Stephanie was the first Black majorette. Stephanie died on Monday April 16, 2012 at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center.

She leaves to cherish her memory a loving and devoted son, Tyshun Q. Brown of Fort Carson, Colorado; a devoted sister: Zebbie Gray of Americus, Georgia; two brothers: Calvin Bonds of Hartford, Connecticut and David Anothony Walters of Norfolk, Virginia; one God sister, Angela Holmes of Americus, Georgia; two God sons: Brandon Bridges and Eric Bridges. A host of other relatives and friends including two devoted nephews: Demetrice Brown and Roshon Brown both of Americus, Georgia.

Funeral services for Mr. Kenson Hunt of Americus, GA will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at The Word of Power Christian Church on Hampton Street in Americus. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery. Kenson died on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in Waycross, GA.

 Mr. Kenson hunt was born on December 6, 1987 in Sumter County, Georgia to Kathy Hunt and Eddie Willie Mercer, Jr.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, Kenson Baker of Americus, Georgia; his parents, Kathy Hunt and Eddie Willie Mercer, Jr.; his step mother, Alice Mercer all of Americus, GA; three sisters: Marquita L. Clark of Americus, GA, Shatara Hunt and Deondria Watson both of Atlanta, GA, five brothers: Tyrus Hunt, Aaron Cooper (Tasha), Eddie Jerome Mercer, Eddie Latrell Mercer all of Americus, GA and Da’Adrian Hunt of North Carolina;  Maternal grandmother, Mary Hunt of Americus, GA; paternal grandparents: Eddie Willie Mercer, Sr. and Annie Taylor both of Americus, GA; three uncles: Jerome Mercer, Brian Keith Mercer (Kathy) all of Americus, GA and Antrell Hunt (Stephanie) of North Carolina. Funeral services for Mrs. Willie Mae Davis age 77 of Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Americus GA will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at the Mt. Salem Baptist Church with Rev. W.R. Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

 

 

Mrs. Willie Mae Mann Davis was born on August 29, 1934 in Sumter County, Americus, Georgia to the late Mr. Hosea Mann and the late Mrs. Evelyn Mann. She was married to the late Mr. Clyde Davis.

 

At an early age Willie Mae joined the Mount Salem Baptist Church where she was a faithful member, serving as the church secretary for nearly 20 years and was later named as Mother of the Church. Willie Mae was a product of the Sumter County School System and an active member of the A.S Staley Class of 1955. She worked for many years at Phillips Manufacturing Company.

 

Willie Mae was widely known for her energetic, caring and vibrant personality. She loved her family, friends, her church family and life in general. Adorning her siblings, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other family members and friends was the norm for her. Her doors were always open to family and friends alike who were in need of a helping hand or a kind word of encouragement.  She was a person who loved to help anyone and didn't expect anything in return. She touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity and maintained her trademark sense of humor wherever she was. Willie Mae is preceded in death, in addition to her parents and spouse, by a brother: Mr. Wheatley Mann and a daughter: Mrs. Judith Davis Johnson. Willie Mae passed away on Sunday, April 1, 2012 in the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, GA.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Mr. William Davis, of Albany, GA, Mr. Carlton Davis, and Ms. Teresa Davis and (Jarvis Cody), all of Americus, GA.; her siblings: Mrs. Mary Dudley of Hartfort, CT and Mrs. Inez Stephens of Newwark, NJ; A god daughter, Elaine Floyd of Killeen, TX. Her grandchildren: Laswanda Davis, Miay Westbrook, Kedrick Williams, Lakendrick Davis, Carneika Davis, Kamesha Davis, Shanguisa Davis, and Javenick Davis, all of Americus, GA. 14 great-grand children, a host of other relatives and friends, including her Mount Salem Baptist Church family also survive.

Memorial Services for Ms. Lucretia Miles age 56 of Russell Street Americus, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at 2:30 P.M. at the Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. H.C. Wilson officiating.

Ms. Lucretia Miles was born on September 23, 1955 in Sumter County, Georgia to Mr. James Miles, Sr. and the late Virginia Miles. At an early age she joined the Mt. Olive Baptist Church. She was educated in the public schools of Sumter County and graduated from Americus High School in 1974. She continued her education at South Georgia Technical College and graduated with a degree in Cosmetology. Lucretia was employed for several years at J&K Liquor Store, Metalux, Davidson and the Sumter County Sheriff’s Department.  Ms. Miles died at her home on Tuesday, March 27, 2012.

 

She leaves to cherish her memory her two children, Ms. Kecia Minter Taylor of Atlanta, Georgia, and Specialist Shannon Miles of Ft. Hood, Texas; Her father, Mr. James (Betty) Miles Sr.; two sisters: Ms. Jeanette Lamar and Ms. Gloria Kate Lyles both of Americus, Georgia; three brothers: Mr. James (Norwanna) Miles Jr., Mr. Thomas Jefferson (Ella) Miles of Albany, Georgia and Mr. Milton Eugene Miles of Americus, Georgia; a devoted cousin, Apostle Carol Seay; a devoted friend, Ms. Nadine Pope. Four grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive Ms. Lucretia Miles.

Ms. Mamie Trice age 82 of Jackson Street Americus, Georgia died on Monday, March 5, 2012 at the Montezuma Health Care Center in Montezuma, Georgia.

Ms. Mamie Trice was born on December 3, 1929 in Montezuma, Georgia to the late Arthur Trice and the late Esther Neal Trice. She was employed for several years as a Certified Nurse Assistant at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.

Left to cherish her memory are four sisters: Arthur Mae Trice Paster of Montezuma, Georgia, Dorothy Mae Page, Abby Williams and Vera Wilson all of Detroit, Michigan. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

At her request she was cremated on last week and no public funeral service will be held.

Graveside services for Mr. Charles Jackson will be held on Monday, February 27, 2012 at 2:00 P.M. at the Eastview Cemetery with Bro. James Ross officiating.

Mr. Charles Jackson affectionately known as “Shake” was born in Americus, Georgia to the late Jessie Mae Jackson Carter and the late Phillip Calloway. At an early age he joined the Jerusalem Baptist Church. He was educated in the Sumter County School System. Charles was employed as a cook and waiter at Stewart’s Restaurant for several years. Mr. Jackson died peacefully on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at the Lillian Carter Nursing Home.

 

He leaves to cherish his memory his God-children: Leslie Rowell and LaVarus Rowell of Americus, Georgia; his cousins: Tommie Jackson, Kaymond Jackson, Leon Jackson and Mrs. Glenda Berryhill all of Americus, Georgia and Sonny Jackson of Columbus, Georgia; A devoted family friend, Eddie L. Mr. Warren G. Moore was born on December 23, 1923 in Sumter County GA, the fifth of ten children born to the union of the late Ora Collins Moore and the late George Moore. At an early age he joined the Mountain Creek A.M.E. Church. He was educated in the public schools of Sumter County. Mr. Moore was employed for several years as a farmer for Frazier Farms. In 1941 he married Ms. Mattie Holmes and this union was blessed with two children one child a son preceded him in death. Mr. Moore died peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Lillian Carter Health & Rehabilitation Center in Plains, Georgia

 

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of nearly 70 years Mrs. Mattie Kate Moore of Americus, Georgia; one daughter, Virginia Moore Carter of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; four siblings and their spouses: Rev. George Moore, Jr of Waukegan, IL, Julia Mae Edge of Plains, Georgia, David Moore (Odessa) of Detroit, MI and Henry Moore (Cornelia) of Americus, Georgia; four grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Mary Eunita Ross Stephens affectionately known as “Lil Mary" of 154 Buttercup Lane Americus, Georgia died on Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Columbus Specialty Hospital in Columbus, Georgia. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. at Friendship Baptist Church 411 Cotton Ave. Americus, GA. Burial will follow at the St Luke Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary Eunita Ross Stephens was born on July 6, 1960 to Hiawatha Ross and the late Mary Varner Ross. She was married to the late Harrold Stephens. She was also preceded in death by a brother James H. Ross, Jr.

At an early age she gave her life to Christ and became a member of the St Luke Baptist Church. There she served faithfully in many capacities until her death.

Lil Mary was educated in the Americus City School System where she graduated with honors in 1978. After graduating she attended Georgia Southwestern College where she earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science. She was a charter member of Rho Sigma Omega Charter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She was employed with Habitat for Humanity International as a Test Analyst.

Lil Mary is survived by her father Deacon Hiawatha Ross of Americus, GA; her five siblings: Charlie Varner and wife Gloria, Jacqueline Ross, Linda Ross all of Americus, GA, Patty Ross Young and husband Lee of Henderson, NV and Sandy Ross Colwell of McDonough, GA. Several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends also survive.

The family will receive friends at Lil Mary’s home at 154 Buttercup Lane, Meadowood Subdivision.
