 The Funeral Service for Larry J. Harden of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Sunday, January 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church, 8620 GA Hwy 26 E, Montezuma, Georgia with Pastor Allen Waters officiating. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others. 

Larry James Harden was born May 12, 1950, to the late Charlie Harden and Anna Lee Harvey in Montezuma, Georgia. Larry received his elementary and middle school education from Flint River Farm School and his high school education from the historic D.F. Douglass High School where he excelled in both basketball and baseball.

After graduating high school, Larry was drafted into the military where he received an honorable discharge after serving four years. Two years of his assigned duties were in Germany.  After returning home from the Army, Larry was employed by Southern Frozen Foods where he remained until his retirement.

At an early age, Larry gave his life to Jesus Christ and joined New Hope Baptist Church.  As he grew up, he regularly attended Sunday school and church.  In his spare time, he loved fishing and rabbit hunting. He also had a special talent for making, fixing, and building things with his gifted hands and knowledge.

Although Larry was a giant in stature, he exhibited a calm demeanor throughout his life.  He wasn’t a man of many words, but he had a way of displaying his Christ like attitude toward others.  Larry was loved by everyone he knew and will be missed by many, especially family and friends in the Five Points Community.  His legacy will live on through his daughter, granddaughter, and future generations, by the grace of almighty God.

Larry leaves to cherish his memories one daughter, Rosa Allen of Montezuma, Georgia; one granddaughter, My’Daisha Ford of Montezuma, Georgia; his godson, Tekorien Thomas of Montezuma, Georgia; six brothers: Harry James Harden of Burford, Georgia, Charlie Spivey, Charlie Riley, Joseph (Felica) Harden, Kelvin Riley, and Charles Harden Jr., all of Macon, Georgia; four sisters, Audrey (Darryl) Harden-Curvin of Cibola, Texas, Glenda (Mackie) Harden-Patrick, Bonnie R. Harden, and Ella (Nigel) Harden-Ingram all of Macon, Georgia; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Eddie Lewis Davis

The Funeral Service for Mr. Eddie Lewis Davis "Tap" of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Whole Truth International Ministries on South Lee Street in Americus, Georgia. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

Eddie Lewis Davis was born on June 13, 1960, in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Leroy Davis, Sr. and Mrs. Thelma Smith Davis. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of the Springhill Baptist Church and served until his demise. Eddie Lewis attended the public schools in Americus, Georgia.  For years he worked at the Coca-Cola Plant.  He retired from Container Marketing, Inc. after several years of service.

Mr. Eddie Lewis Davis loved his family. On pleasant days, he could be found at the nearest fishing hole. Mr. Davis died Friday, January 13, 2023, at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital in Tallahassee, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and six siblings: Eugene Davis, Eddie Jean Lewis White, Leroy Davis, Jr., Katherine Banks, Geneva Banks, and Arthur Davis.

He leaves a legacy of memories to his beloved family which includes two devoted daughters: Ms. Barbara Searcy of Kathleen, Georgia and Ms. Latonya Williams of Warner Robins, Georgia; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; two sisters: Mrs. Alice (Henry) Battle of Americus, Georgia and Ms. Lilly Kennedy of Ridgeland, South Carolina; four brothers: Mr. Charles Davis of Americus, Georgia, Mr. Joseph (Earnestine) Davis of Americus, Georgia, Mr. James (Evelyn) Davis of Albany, Georgia, and Mr. Willie (Jackie) Davis of Columbia, South Carolina; one uncle, Mr. Alvin Tyson (Mary); several nieces and nephews to include a devoted niece, Mrs. Priscilla (Steve) Brown of Americus, Georgia; cousins, other relatives and friends and his DaVita Family.

Mrs. Johnnie Johnson

Mrs. Johnnie Johnson of Americus, Georgia, formerly of Dawson, Georgia, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at the Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. The family will honor her request for cremation and there will be no formal funeral service.

Mrs. Johnnie Johnson was born on November 5, 1939, in Dawson, Georgia to the late Vera Jones Pearman and the late Oscar Pearman. Mrs. Johnson was employed as a cook at Carver High School. She was married to the late Asberry Johnson, Jr.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Randy Johnson, Anthony Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Sandra Johnson. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. James Wendell Jones of Americus, Georgia died on Sunday, January 1, 2023, in Palm Beach County, Florida. At his family’s request Mr. Jones was cremated and there will be no formal funeral service.

Mr. James Wendell Jones was born in Americus, Georgia on August 8, 1983, to Donna Kay Storey and James Wendell Harden.

Left to cherish his memories are his parents: Donna Kay Storey (Mike) of Panama City Beach, Florida and James Wendell Harden of Marion, Arkansas; his siblings: Jimmy Lynn Jones of Cordele, Georgia, Robert Lee Jones of Butler, Georgia and Jonathan Jones of Cordele, Georgia; one uncle, Richard Wayne Storey of Americus, Georgia; one aunt, Mary Sue Vancikell of Cordele, Georgia; several other relatives and friends also survive.

Ms. Shirley Ann Larkins was born on June 21, 1964, to the parentage of the late Arthur Willis Larkins and the late Mattie Pearl Larkins. She attended the Americus Public School System and was employed by Magnolia Manor in the dietary department. In 1995 she married Mr. Erwin Sims. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two brothers: Mr. James Larkins and Mr. Travis Collins.

She is survived by her husband Mr. Erwin Sims, Americus, GA; two daughters: Ms. LaKeza Larkins and Ms. Ashley Larkins both of Americus, GA; a loving and devoted brother, Mr. Christopher Larkins of Americus, GA; two sisters: Ms. Carolyn Larkins of Americus, GA and Ms. Barbara Larkins of Atlanta, GA; brothers and sisters-in-law: Robert (Della) Sims of Rincon, GA, Jurilene (Ralph) Morgan, Margaret (Dennis) Harvey, Wilbert (Helen) Sims, Mandy Sims, Leonard Sims all of Americus, GA, Annie (Eddie) Biggins, and Jerome (Rosie) Sims of Desoto, GA; one uncle, Tommy L. Bruce, Americus, GA; A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives, friends also survive.

Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Desmond Rawls officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Edward “Mott” Jackson, the oldest of nine children, was born June 26, 1940, in Macon County, Georgia to the parentage of Marie Jackson and the late Mott Plass Jackson. Edward received his education through the Macon County Public School System and graduated from D. F. Douglass High School in Montezuma, Georgia. After completing high school, he pursued his studies in a CDL Training Program. Edward believed in a strong work ethic. He became employed at Southern Frozen Foods where he worked for more than forty-five years.

 

At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and became a member of Mt. Pleasant CME Church (Mt. Pleasant/Travelers Rest CME Church) in Montezuma, where he served for years as a steward. There, he served faithfully until his health failed. Everyone who knew him, knew that he was faithful, loving, caring, and dedicated to making those around him feel loved.

 

 

His great work on earth and the love he gave will never be forgotten. He peacefully departed this life on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, in the comfort of his home. He was preceded in death by three brothers: Charlie, Nathaniel, and Cordel Jackson. He leaves to cherish his memory: a loving and devoted mother, Marie Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; a step-daughter, Angela Shelley of Warner Robins, Georgia; three sisters: Helen Williams of Rochester, New York, Emma Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia, and Julia Tookes (Isaiah) of Oglethorpe, Georgia; two brothers: Willie Jackson of Americus, Georgia and Reginald Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; an aunt, Mildred Frederick  of Montezuma, Georgia; two sisters-in-law: Mary Helen Jackson and Brenda Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

Mr. Joseph White, Sr.

Mr. Joseph White Sr. was born in Americus, GA on September 25, 1952 to the late Mr. Calvin White Sr. and Mrs. Mary James White. He was employed at Scott Bedding Company and he later retired from Hickory Springs Company. Mr. White passed on Monday, December 26, 2022 in Atlanta, Ga.

Left to cherish his memories are his children: Brian & Rebecca Terry, LaShun White, Joseph White Jr., Anthony King, Minnie King and Cherronda Tookes; two loving sisters: Mrs. Charlene W. Anthony & Mrs. Shirlene White Monts; one brother, James D. White Sr. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

A Memorial Service for Mr. White will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 1:30 to 4:30 at 799 Hawkins St Raven Wood Apartment Americus, GA.

 Ms. Tiffany Renee’ Patterson was born on October 25, 1983 in Americus, GA to James and Gracie Patterson. She was a member of Old Shady Grove Baptist Church and was employed at Convoy Logistics.

Left to cherish her memories are her parents: Gracie Patterson and James Patterson; two siblings: Janetta Patterson and Brianna Patterson; one aunt, Rosalyn Alexander; one uncle, James Whitehead; her fiancé Jason Reese; three nieces: Alanna Edge, Ayvah Reddick, Alaiyah Reddick.  Mrs. Bernice Ruth Johnson was born on July 6, 1960, in Sumter County, GA to Lucile Brown and the late Rev. Albert Mack, Sr. 

Left to cherish her memories are her husband of forty-six years, Aaron Johnson, Leslie, GA; devoted children: David Johnson (Fanesia), Yolanda Robinson (Andre), of Americus, GA, Teresa Johnson, Atlanta, GA, Christina Johnson, Warner Robins, GA and Rodrick (Katisha) Johnson, Springfield, Massachusetts.
