The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mag Jamerson West will be held Saturday, October 29, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church, Montezuma, Georgia with Reverend Alfred Wynn officiating. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the safety of others.

Mag Jamerson West was born to the late James “Jim” Ashmon and the late Hester “Doll” Williams-Collier on November 23, 1934, in Montezuma, Georgia. She was the youngest of six children, who all proceeded her in death. In the absence of her siblings, Mag and her three nieces Willie Pearl Allen (Orlando, Florida), Ira B. Allen (Deceased) and Mary Lou Johnson (Montezuma, Georgia) shared a sisterly bond.

She was introduced to Christ as a child and was baptized at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia where she also became a member. Mag was educated in the rural St. Paul Baptist Church in Macon County, Georgia. She was a dedicated employee of Kellwood Company in Perry, Georgia. She worked as a seamstress for 30 years until her retirement in 1997.

In July of 1953, Mag was united in holy matrimony to the late Lester West. This union blessed them with three daughters, Elaine West Turner (Montezuma, Georgia), Marion West McDonald (Montezuma, Georgia) and the late Eria West Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia. Mag was also the stepmother to Lester West Jr. (Teresa) of Miami, Florida and the late Beverly West Bates of Miami, Florida.

Those left to carry her legacy: her devoted daughters Marion West McDonald and Elaine West Turner, her darling grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, great-nieces, nephews and great-nephews. Special thank you to Chelsey and Jordan McDonald who served as dedicated caregivers.

There is no way to say goodbye to you. Your outlook on life, the guidance you provided, and the way you made me laugh are something I will always treasure. You had a quiet demeanor but a personality that would capture the room. To many, including me, that is precisely who and what you were. Your legacy will continue to live through the lives you’ve touched. You are missed. You will be missed. But you understood your assignment well, and now your work on this side is done.

I love you, grandma.

Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all. Proverbs 31:28
