The funeral service for Mr. Cranston Sharell Fulks, Sr. of Americus, Georgia will be held on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Andersonville National Cemetery, 760 POW Rd, Andersonville, Georgia. Mr. Fulks passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, Georgia. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the protection of others. 

Cranston Sharell Fulks, Sr. was born on April 2, 1981 in Sumter County, Georgia to Mr. Dennis Mathis and Ms. Betty Hill-Fulks. He was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church Youth Choir,  Founder and President of Only God Can Judge Me organization and Vice President of Second Timothy. He was willing to participate and support all ministries that would bring Glory to the name of Jesus, never seeking accolades or glory.

Cranston attended South GA Technical College where he received his GED and Commercial Driver’s License. He was the CEO of his own trucking company, C. S. Fulks Logistics LLC.

Cranston was a devoted Christian. He served God, family, friends and those who would call him to minister to them based on their needs. He exemplified service at every level and welcomed the opportunity to bless others in Christ. He had a passion to service and help children. He was always feeding,  and trying to house and clothe the homeless. He would always have a scripture to lift up those who were downtrodden.

He was a loving father and a good provider for his family. He was well known for his great personality and kindness. He loved all things family. His love for family was only exceeded by his love for his heavenly Father. He welcomed all with a warm smile and caring heart.

He was united in holy matrimony to Ms. Sherlanda Jackson. To this union two children were born, Cranston Sharell Fulks, Jr. and Joycelynn Winter Fulks. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Willie Lawrence was born on May 10, 1948 in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida to the late Mr. T. Lee Lawrence and Mrs. Frances T. Lawrence. He was proceeded in death by his loving father and mother, one son, one daughter, one brother, John Lawrence and two sisters: Cora Lawrence and Hollie Pratt.

He leaves loving memories with his children: Victor Lawrence, Tawanda Stephenson, Dontae Lawrence, Tyshawndra Lowe, Tiffany Lawrence, Tramaine Lowe, Corey Lawrence, Serina Bailey, Anthony Grimes, Shawndre Porter, Patrick Williams, Melody Parrot, Jerome Lawrence and Chirrikkia Woodruff; his loving wife, Shirlene Williams; one sister, Frances Lawrence and friend Ronny Lightfoot; two brothers: Edward Lee Lawrence (Renada Sapp) and Thomas Lawrence (Shirley White); a very special friend, Frances Waters; a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

On September 4, 1953, a precious soul, Betty Walton, was born to the parentage of the late Lugene Walton and Mary Brown Walton in Sumter County, Georgia.

She resided in West Palm Beach, Florida until moving back to Georgia in November of 2006. Betty was a graduate of Twin Lakes High School in 1971. After graduating, she went on to work for AT&T for 30 years. Later she moved to Americus, Georgia and was employed by Dr. John Marshall for eight years.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her mother, Mrs. Mary Brown Walton of Americus, Georgia; her devoted companion, Mr. Alfred Leaphart also of Americus, Georgia; two God-daughters: Brynne Pierce of Ft. Myers, Florida and Juanya Williams of Miami, Florida; two devoted friends: Ms. Octavia Bell of Del Ray Beach, Florida and Mr. Michael Rogers of Ellaville, Georgia; two devoted cousins: Ms. Mary Lucas and Mrs. Elaine (Larry) Goggins of Americus, Georgia; several other cousins, relatives and friends in Florida and New York also survive.

Ms. Shirley Ellison was born on September 1, 1960 in Macon County, Georgia. She attended the public schools of Macon County and was a member of St. Paul AME Church, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Shirley was a dedicated employee in the dietary department at Flint River Hospital and Yoder's Deitsch Haus Family Restaurant for many years. Ms. Shirley Ellison passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2021. She was preceded in death by her mother Willie Mae Ellison, her brother Eddie James Ellison and her grandmother Hattie Edge.

She leaves loving memories with her daughter Veronica Hill and husband, Antwann Hill Sr. of Kathleen, Georgia; her grandchildren: Aniya Hill and Antwann Hill Jr. both of Kathleen, Georgia; brother, Kenneth Ellison of Montezuma, Georgia; sister, Carolyn Sutton of Pinehurst, Georgia; nieces and nephews:  Keylexius Battle, Jerry Sutton and Rodney Sutton; several loving aunts and uncles; two devoted cousins: Peggy Ridley of Montezuma, Georgia and Earnestine Furlough James of Atlanta, Georgia; other loving relatives and friends.

Mr. Christopher Ellington

The Graveside Service for Christopher Ellington of Montezuma, Georgia will be held on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery, Montezuma, Georgia. Christopher Alexander Ellington, (BKA Joe), son of Lavivian and Antrius Ellington, was born October 6, 1998 in Macon County Georgia.  He received his Christian training at Harrison Chapel Baptist Church in Montezuma, Georgia. Christopher was a 2017 graduate of Macon County High School.  He furthered his education and earned a Networking Specialist Diploma from South Georgia Technical College in Americus, Georgia on May 2, 2019.  At some point, Christopher became interested in music.  He began teaching himself how to make beats. He also wrote songs. Christopher had a great love for music.  His favorite artist was the great Bob Marley. Music and his two brothers and baby sister were his biggest loves.  Christopher would drive his grandmother to Stone Mountain to spend time with his mother, brothers and baby sister. 

On October 9, 2021, Christopher departed his earthly life for eternal life. He was preceded in death by his grandfather Hollis Burke, great grandmothers: Reatha Mae Barner, Emma “Honey” Burke, Eloise Ellington and Flora Bell Johnson; great grandfathers: Jessie Burke Sr., Warren Ellington and Art T. Laney.

His loving memory will forever be cherished by his devoted mother Lavivian Ellington and father Antrius Ellington of Stone Mountain, Georgia; his loving siblings: Anterious, Quazerius, and La’Terrian Ellington of Stone Mountain, Georgia; his loving grandmothers: Pearlie Mae Burke of Montezuma, Georgia and Sarah Ellington of Weston, Georgia; his loving grandfather Willie C. Ellington of Weston, Georgia; loving aunts and uncles: Elisha Hamilton of Preston, Georgia, Kwanjalin Ellington (Galen Phillips) of Augusta, Georgia, Sharon Ellington of Americus, Georgia, Greta Johnson (Tyrone Johnson) of Columbus, Georgia, Demorie Ellington of Smyrna, Georgia and  Demetreus Ellington of Stone Mountain, Georgia; loving great aunts and uncles: Shirley Brown (Willie J. Brown) of Montezuma, Georgia,  Reatha Preston of Marshallville, Georgia, Willie Pearl Preston of Fort Valley, Georgia and Jessie Burke Jr. (Betty Burke) of Orlando, Florida; devoted cousins and friends: C.J. Ms. Mary F. Lewis

Ms. Mary Lewis of Americus, Georgia passed away on October 8, 2021 at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. She was employed at Magnolia Manor as a dietitian and at Rib and Loin Restaurant as a cook. She was associated with Jehovah’s Witnesses and looked forward to the Resurrection Hope through Jesus Christ.

Service arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by West’s Mortuary. 

She is survived by her two daughters: Sharon Lewis and Cheri Lewis; five sons: Rothman Lewis, Jr., Michael Lewis, Essie Lewis, Lionel Lewis and Alonzo Lewis; four sisters: Mary Pless, Della Lewis, Mathalene Bruce and Annie Man; 15 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Lizzie Mae Harper, affectionately known as “Liz” by family and friends, was born April 15, 1944, in Plains, Georgia to the late Mr. Tiney Glover and the late Mrs. Viola Williams Glover. She received her education from the Sumter County School System and was married to the late Adam Harper. Mrs. Harper worked as a Daycare provider for thirty years. She touched the lives of many young children and was a dedicated, hard worker. Liz loved and cared for children. She also had a special love for her family and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Mrs. Lizzie Harper passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 30, 2021, at her home in Americus, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents: Mr. Tiney Glover and Mrs. Viola Williams Glover; her husband, Mr. Adam Harper, two brothers: Mr. Tiney Glover, Jr. and Mr. Herbert Glover; a sister, Ms. Viola Louise Glover; two grandsons: Mr. Ronkeyious T. Glover and Mr. Deontavius T. Glover.

Mr. Joseph Monts, Sr.

Mr. Joseph W. Monts, Sr. was born on February 12, 1945, in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of the late Mr. Joe E. Monts and the late Mrs. Bessie Lou Cottle Monts. He was a member of New Mount Mariah Baptist Church. He attended the public schools of Sumter County and was an employee of The Sumter Livestock Association for over twenty years, until retirement. Before his health declined, he loved fishing and working in his garden.

He was preceded in death by his brothers Arthur Lee Monts, Robert Lee Monts, and George Thomas Monts; and sisters Mary D. Rushin, Bertha Mae Rushin, and Betty Jean Monts.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at 201 Lakeview Cir. Americus, GA

He leaves to cherish his memory, two brothers: Charlie James Monts and Joe (Ethel) Calloway; four children: Joseph (Diane) Monts, Jr., Tonya (Jason) Wells, Sr., Eric Mitchell, and Anik Lundy; thirteen grandchildren: Joshua Monts, Jeremi Fuller, Breanca Denmark, Shaquanna Denmark, Diamond Denmark, Brittany Arbery, Jakeemi Brooks, Marion Hogan, Messiah Hogan, Jason Wells, Jr., and devoted grandchildren: Noah Hosley and Azariah Lundy of Americus, Georgia and Hodges Brooks of Arlington, Texas. Angela LaShone Bess was born on December 25, 1965, in Terrell County, Georgia to the late Henry Bess Sr.  and Gussie Mae Thomas Bess. She was educated in the Lee County School System. Angela peacefully passed away on Thursday, September 23, 2021, at her home in Smithville, GA. She was preceded in death by an aunt Marie Barner.

Ms. Vera Mae Jackson

Ms. Vera Mae Jackson was born on November 2, 1936 to the late Theodore Jackson, Sr. and Lois Jackson. At a young age she gave her life to Christ. She attended Ebenezer Baptist Church School until third grade when she became legally blind.

Vera was a unique person. Even though she was legally blind as a child, she continued to live a complete and successful life.  She raised her children and after her daughter Monique died she raised her grandchildren.  She also helped raise her great grandchildren until God called her home. Vera never used a cane or seeing eye dog. She did everything by her instincts.  What a remarkable Woman!

God called her home on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Monique Jackson and a sister, Loistine Mumbie.

A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cool Springs Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion County, Georgia. Due to COVID-19 concerns, we ask that you MASK UP and continue to practice social distancing for your protection and for the safety of others. 

She leaves precious memories with her daughter, Katricia Jackson; one brother, Theodore R. “Buddy” Jackson; one sister, Evelyn Freeman; her caretaker and granddaughter, Christine Weatherspoon along with her other grandchildren: Erneisha Jackson, Jarvarious Spivey, Jonteria Spivey, Jontiniqua Spivey, Creosha Weatherspoon, Lapatra Brockman and Patrown Brockman; thirteen great-grands and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
