The funeral service for Ja’Marcus Jy’Quon Dariso of Americus, Georgia will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. at Marthanna Living Way Baptist Church in Desoto, Georgia. Burial will follow at Jackson Grove Cemetery.

Ja’Marcus Jy’Quon Dariso was born September 25, 2002, in Sumter County, Georgia to Ms. Tiffany Dariso and the late Mr. Eddie Gaines Brown, Jr.  “Quan”, as he was affectionately called, loved his family. He loved playing basketball and hanging out with his friends. No matter when you saw Quan, he always kept a smile on his face. He attended Sumter County High School.

Quan departed this life on June 18, 2023. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Mr. Willie Lee Dariso, Sr., Mrs. Johnnie Mae Dariso, and Mrs. Easter Kate Brown.

He leaves precious memories to be cherished by his daughter, Maloni Za’Miri Dariso of Americus, Georgia; his mother, Ms. Tiffany Dariso and bonus father, Mr. Lawrence Holt, Sr. both of Americus, Georgia; bonus mother, Ms. Felicia Angry Brown of Leslie, Georgia; five sisters: Shantavis Shantell Dariso, Keonna Nykia Brown, Kinedie Zy’Asia Holt, Laurynn NyKeasjah Dariso, and Eyrn Brown all of Americus, Georgia; six brothers: Javaris Antwan Dariso, Eddie Gaines Brown III, Zyric Allen, Eddie Gaines Brown IV, Lawerence Jermaine Holt, Jr. of Americus, Georgia, and Jy’Kobie Ra’Quan Brown of Leslie, Georgia; three aunts: Ms. Beverly Faye Dariso Daniels (James) of Dooly County, Georgia, Ms. Anita Brown of Plains, Georgia and Ms. Tyran Brown of Americus, Georgia; four uncles: Mr. Willie Lee Dariso, Jr. and Mr. James Anthony Dariso of Dooly County, Georgia, Mr. Patrick Brown (Kimberly) and Mr. Gregory Brown (Sylvia) of Americus, Georgia; great-grandfather, Mr. MacArthur Deriso; grandfather, Mr. Eddie G. Brown, Sr. (Beverly); a host of great-aunts and great-uncles; devoted and loving friends: Angela Carter Brown, Kyon Hubbard, Gregory Brown, Jr., Korlone and Beverly Davis.

The Graveside Service for Mr. Wilbert Waters of Morrow, Georgia will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Rev. Champ Waters Cemetery, 191 Twin Churches Road, Montezuma, Georgia.

Wilbert Waters was born July 18, 1950, to the late Carrie Mae Montford Bembroy and Ernest Waters. He was reared and educated in Delray Beach, Florida. Wilbert relocated to Atlanta, Georgia from Chicago, Illinois in 2003.

Wilbert transitioned from this life on June 15, 2023. He leaves precious memories to be cherished by his daughters: Tamara Waters and Deidra Waters of Delray Beach, Florida; his grandchildren: Richard, Khamara, Amber, Chanteira and Milan; and his great-grandchildren: Valerie and Autumn all of Delray Beach, Florida; his sister, Ernestine Waters Lovell of Atlanta, Georgia; his brother, Herbert J. Waters (Yvonne) of East Point, Georgia; his uncle, Rev. Hosie Waters (Louise) of Montezuma, Georgia;  nephews: Mark Lovell and Michael Lovell; nieces: Andrea Winston and Audrey Potter (Anthony) of Atlanta, Georgia; a host of cousins and friends. Special recognition is given to Mr. Nathaniel and Mrs. Alfredia Chia, Caregivers.

A Memorial service Mr. Robert Lee Robinson Jr.  of Americus, Georgia will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, at 11:00 on the Lawn of West’s Mortuary in Americus, Georgia.

Mr. Robert Lee Robinson Jr. was born in Tifton, Georgia on October 2, 1958, to the late Mrs. Ruby Battle Mack and Robert Lee Robinson Sr.   Robert passed on June 12, 2023, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center in Americus, Georgia. He was preceded in death by his brothers Edward Volley and Willie Charles Battle.  

He leaves many precious memories with his four sisters: Aldean Battle, Charlie Mae Robinson, Fannie Mae Flowers, and Connie Cooper; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Mildred Frederick

The Funeral Service for Mrs. Mildred Frederick of Montezuma, Georgia will be held Monday, June 12, 2023, at noon at Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 4826 Georgia Highway 26W, Oglethorpe, Georgia 31068. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, Georgia.

Mildred “Honey” Frederick was born on August 4, 1917, in Oglethorpe, Georgia to Parker Sr. and Julia Joseph. Mildred married Albert Frederick. Through their union, they were blessed with two daughters, JoAnn and Jacqueline. She found Christ at an early age and became a life-long, faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served as an Usher for many years. Mildred was blessed by being recognized as Antioch’s oldest living member thus far.

Mildred was a homemaker and reliable family member who often provided child care for many children in the family. She was a strong matriarch of her family; never mincing any words, a good friend to all, and always a woman of her word. Mildred transitioned from this physical world on June 7, 2023, at her home surrounded by loved ones. Mildred was preceded in death by her parents, husband Albert, one daughter Janie Pearl Winston, brothers Leo Joseph, Parker Joseph, Jr., Governor Jospeh, and Earl Jesse Joseph, sisters Annie Grace Monts, Estella Crawford, and Jimmie Lee Alexander, grandson-in-law Edberial D. Melonson, and nephews Charlie, Cordel, Nathaniel, and Edward Jackson.

She is survived by her daughters: JoAnn (Arthur) Davis of Warner Robins, Georgia and Jacqueline Frederick of Montezuma, Georgia; her bonus son, James Edward (Regina) Howard of Stone Mountain, Georgia; four granddaughters: Monica (Jason) Woods of Bonaire, Georgia, Keisha Morgan, Nikki Melonson, and Carmen Davis of Warner Robins, Georgia; four great-grandchildren: Keivona (Joshua) Washington of Montgomery, Alabama, Kenadi Morgan of Warner Robins, Georgia, and Jaron and Jasmine Woods of Bonaire, Georgia; two great-great-grandchildren: Raelynn and Reece Washington of Montgomery, Alabama; her sister, Marie Jackson of Montezuma, Georgia; a host of loving nieces and nephews to include Emma Jean Jackson, Julia Tookes (Rev. Isaiah), Willie “Bobby” Jackson, Reginald Jackson, and Helen Williams; a devoted cousin, Albert (Mildred) Rucker of Perry, Georgia; other loving relatives and friends.

Ms. Amy R. Walters

The Graveside Service for Ms. Amy Walters will be held Tuesday, June 6, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. at Freeman Hill Cemetery in Andersonville, Georgia with Reverend George F. Monts officiating.

Amy Ryan Walters was born on December 18, 1977, in Americus, Georgia to Patricia Jackson Walters and the late Charlie Walters. Amy was educated in the Sumter County School System and graduated in 1996. She went on to study Business and Office Technology at South Georgia Technical College before eventually going into the field of healthcare. Amy worked briefly at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home and eventually settled into a thirteen-year career with the Phoebe Healthcare System.

Amy was like her father, the life of the party. She loved her kids and enjoyed spending time with her grandkids.  She passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. She was preceded in death by her father, Charlie Walters and her best friend, Fatima Holmes.

Left to celebrate her life are her three children: Tykerria Parker (Calvin Banks, Jr.), Carlecia Jackson, and Benjamin Jackson; two grandsons: Tylan Banks and Tymir Banks; her mother, Patricia Walters; three siblings: Kelvin Walters, Melissa Walters (Luther Bess), and La’Toya Walters (Kordrick Whitehead); her niece and nephew; La’Jerria and Dwayne Walters all of Americus, Georgia; her aunts and uncles: Bennie Jackson of Americus, Georgia, Betty Jenkins (Lynn) of Orlando, Florida, Bessie Jackson of Americus, Georgia, Nathaniel Jackson (Marilyn) of Ellaville, Georgia, Jerome Jackson (Patricia), Zebb Jackson (Annie), Bobby Jackson, Mary Lee Walters, and Annie Bell Holmes all of Americus, Georgia; five devoted friends: Tameka Reed, Jessica Johnson, Alicia Frazier, Sherica Stevens, and Rosheenia Golden; a host of nieces and nephews, other loving relatives and friends.

The Graveside Service for Quan’tavius Robinson of Americus, Georgia will be held Saturday, June 10, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Mt. Mary Cemetery, Americus, Georgia.

Quan’tavius Trayveion Robinson, affectionally called “Big-Head”, “Tray”, or “Dank”, was born on January 30, 1995, in Sumter County, Georgia to the parentage of Cotina Banks and the late Raye Anthony Robinson. Quan’tavius received his education in the public schools of Sumter County. At an early age, he gave his life to Christ and joined the Union Tabernacle Baptist Church in Americus, Georgia.

Quan’tavius was known for his bright spirit. He enjoyed dancing and entertaining others. He loved those around him. He loved spending time with family, especially his mother and children, and spending time with his friends. Quan’tavius was very protective of those he loved. He was a loyal and caring person who will be remembered for his braveness and kind heart. Quan’tavius departed this life on May 29, 2023. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents, Ralph Lewis Sr., Jessie Lee Floyd Sr., Diane Banks, Arthur Davis Sr., Curtis Banks Sr., and two friends Dontrell White and Cedric Hagan.

He leaves precious memories with his mother, Cotina Banks of Americus, Georgia; his two sons: Ashton Trayveion Robinson and Tyji Harper who he loved and raised as his own and two step-children: Markiyah and Tylen all of Americus, Georgia; his two sisters: Shaquetta (Antorie) Munns and Shonte Harper both of Americus, Georgia; his grandmothers: Ms. Hazel Robinson of Albany, Georgia and Mrs. Annie Bell Banks of Americus, Georgia; his companion, Erica Harper of Plains, Georgia; his aunts and uncles: Alfonzo Sims of Jacksonville, Florida, Chris (Julia) Sims of Americus, Georgia, Phalisa Sims and Mark Sims of Albany, Georgia, Beverly Banks-King of Pensacola, Florida, Doug (Angela) Banks, Edgar (Jackie) Banks, John Banks, Curtis Banks Jr., Kenneth (Mary) Banks, Shaneka Jones, Penny Davis, Derensky Jones, Marcus Jones and Lisa Mercer of Americus, Georgia; two devoted aunts: Katrina (Walter) Bridges and Teresa Banks of Americus, Georgia; a devoted friend/ his son’s mother, Quanesha Draines; a host of devoted cousins, other relatives and friends.

Michael D. Atkins-Merritt was born November 12, 1998, in Americus, Georgia to Tonia Pace (Victor) Woods and the late Johnny Merritt Jr. He was educated in the Americus-Sumter County School System. His last place of employment was Tyson Foods.

Michael departed this life on May 24, 2023, at Phoebe-Sumter Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his grandparents: Dora Bell Pace and Frank Brown.

Michael is survived by his daughter, Emourie Janell Atkins; his mother, Tonia Pace (Victor) Woods; grandparents: Johnny (Ruby) Merritt Sr. and Charlie Mae Colson; siblings: Shakelby Parks, Malik Carter, Keyonna Walker, Ladarian Merritt and Mattendrick Gibson; aunts: Kimberly (Eric) Merritt-Barrett, Pamela Harvey and Cheyenne Woodard; uncles: Lee (Melissa) Pace, Earnest (Shelia) Walker and Willie Pace; godmother (aunt), Erica Spear;  devoted cousins: Treylon, Jacki, Brenton, Brianna W., Demetrius, Laquasha, Brianna P., Jeremy, Shareya and Elise;  some of his closest friends: Reginald, Rell, Tray, Tyler, Quincy, Malik, Quay, Michael F., Quan, Kasey, Thomas H., Danielle S., Karmil H. Ms. Annie M. Bass of Railroad Street, Americus, Georgia died on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at her home. Her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. at Welcome Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Eastview Cemetery.

Ms. Annie M. Bass was born on March 23, 1940, in Moultrie, Georgia to Ms. Esther Jones. She was employed as a cook at Cherokee Elementary School.

Left to cherish her memories are her children: Janet Jackson of Americus, Georgia, Gloria Green of Moultrie, Georgia, Diane Thomas of New Jersey and Tony Sumlin of Albany, Georgia. Several other relatives and friends also survive.

Mr. Jarrett Lofton

The Funeral Service for Mr. Jarrett Lofton of Tampa, Florida will be held Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Shade Arnold Baptist Church, 11241 Georgia Hwy 26 E, Montezuma, Georgia. Interment will follow at Shade Arnold Baptist Church Cemetery.

Public viewing will be Wednesday, May 24, 2023, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at West's Mortuary in Montezuma, Georgia.

Jarrett Raymond Lofton was born to the late John and Alice Marie Lofton on October 1, 1971, in Rochester, New York.  At a very young age, his family moved to Tampa, Florida. Jarrett attended elementary and high school in Tampa. He became gainfully employed by Staples and worked there for many decades.  He later started his own barbecue business. Jarrett and his sons faithfully attended the New Millennium Baptist Church in Tampa, Florida.

Jarrett loved taking his sons to Orlando Magic games and shooting basketball hoops.  His daughter, Jaylen, loved going out to eat with him and taking boat rides. She just enjoyed sitting on the front porch and talking with her dad. Jarrett’s favorite hobbies were fishing, watching sports, barbequing, and spending time with his dog Buster. One of his special places for vacation was at his cousin Connie’s house in Ideal, Georgia.

He leaves cherished memories with his daughter and sons: Jaylen Rivera, Jonathan and Justin Lofton all of Tampa, Florida; his sister, Alicia Warren (Torrance Sr.) of Warner Robins, Georgia and stepsister, Tesa Price of Tampa, Florida; grandchildren: Jayden Brown and A’de Coleman;  his niece and nephew: Nyah Warren  and  Torrance Warren, Jr.; uncles: Willie (Carrie) Thomas of Rochester, New York and Charles (Ila) Thomas of Lawrenceville, Georgia; aunts: Joan (Robert) Granville of Montezuma, Georgia and Barbara Parker and Mary D. Thomas both of Rochester, New York; his closest friends: Alicia Wilkerson of Tampa, Florida and Shurell Nelson of Montezuma, Georgia; Many cousins and friends will greatly miss Jarrett.
